A Letter From Caral Edelberg, President

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Partners,
As we look to a new spring season with growth, possibility and change abounding, we also see a metaphor for the industry that we all love. In the current expansion and change taking place in the healthcare world we see a new set of challenges and opportunities that are both exciting and scary to all of us. In the more than three decades that I’ve been involved in medical coding, compliance and the broader healthcare revenue cycle, I don’t believe I’ve seen a time in our industry’s history where the speed of change was greater or more pronounced than right now. The current pace of change in the industry requires each stakeholder to reassess the value they bring to their organization and also the education and skills that are necessary to compete in this ever-changing world.
It is in this new environment that my team and I have made exciting changes to our business that make us an even better, more comprehensive provider and partner to companies like yours. We are excited about these changes and believe that our focus and the vision we have for the industry is a refreshing change to what remains very traditional and sometimes outdated approaches and methodologies around revenue cycle issues.
First, our company no longer will be Edelberg Compliance Associates but instead is going with a simpler name indicative of our focus outside of the compliance areas. Edelberg & Associates ( www.edelbergcodes.com ) is our new operating name going forward and we believe that this will eliminate any confusion that has existed about the breadth and depth of offerings.
Our key message to healthcare entities of all sizes is also refined and simple: Reduce Risk. Increase Value. To companies like yours we offer products and services that target three key areas:
My team and I have learned a great deal from your open and candid feedback over the last many years. One of these key pieces of feedback was the necessity industry wide to tie in compliance initiatives with the broader revenue cycle to achieve a holistic and more compelling vision of the healthcare enterprise. With our new offerings and upcoming announcements from Edelberg & Associates you will see that feedback reflected in our direction. Our new product and services packages are oriented around providing external compliance and oversight services as an ongoing function that is complemented and enhanced by our own in-house business intelligence & analytics products. As we migrate into this new season of growth we are excited to share all the details regarding these changes. We also will be sharing exciting updates on several new and exciting product initiatives that will be released in 2012 including a first of its kind Benchmarking Product for the Healthcare Industry.
We thank all our customers, partners, friend and colleagues that have helped make these past months recording setting ones for Edelberg & Associates. I hope that our products and services have improved the way you do business and the way you look at your overall revenue cycle operations.
